About Riccardo

I am a Sydney-based professional counsellor (BCoun; DipCoun) registered with PACFA; the national peak body for counsellors and psychotherapists in Australia. My counselling experience spans the last 10 years; and includes working with diverse community groups and managing a wide range of counselling related issues.

I have worked with people from all walks of life, including clients both domestically and internationally. My previous counselling experience involved a number of leading mental health and community organisations, with particular focus on youth issues; gender & sexually diverse (LGBTIQ) folk; and those struggling with addictive behaviours. Having worked in a variety of spaces, I am now eager to bring my rich knowledge and experience of counselling to a private practice setting. Riccardo Ingle (PACFA; BCoun; DipCoun)

The core of my counselling practice uses my personal qualities of warmth, genuineness, and empathy to create an engaging therapeutic alliance. During a session we may explore exceptions and alternative possibilities, I may positively and respectfully challenge you, or work with you in joint problem-solving. Reframing stories and narratives has been a powerful tool of transformation that I have drawn on, using it both with those I work with and also in my personal life. My role as a counsellor is to help clarify and better understand your feelings, wants, and needs. When counselling, I primarily use a mix of humanistic and post-modern approaches, these approaches seek to view the problem as the problem, and not the reason. In other words, a person is not just their behaviour, they are also their positive intentions and hopes. Working together to explore the ways in which people live, especially in relation to others, we can rediscover, reshape and then finally re-tell the stories that define our lives. Speaking up and seeking support when you need is important, and I am a strong advocate of helping people help themselves to make the world a better place for all. My passion for counselling and desire to assist those who want to better themselves make me an ideal counsellor for anyone seeking change, personal growth, or self-improvement. On my website are also links to other support groups and community organisations.
